European Innovation at SEA 10:00-12:30
The morning programme European Innovation at SEA focuses on European cooperation and policy development within the maritime sector. With special attention to the European Industrial Maritime Strategy (EIMS), the first panel explores the role of maritime innovation in shaping future-proof maritime policy, including a broader look at the relationship between the EIMS and innovation. The second panel takes a closer look at the conditions and opportunities that support the EIMS, known as enablers. The third panel focuses on the CirclesOfLife project, in which European maritime stakeholders work together to promote sustainable and circular practices across the entire maritime value chain.
Dutch Innovation at SEA 13:30–15:00
In the afternoon, the focus shifts to Dutch Innovation at SEA, where the Dutch maritime ecosystem and its capacity for innovation take centre stage. These sessions provide an opportunity to highlight the dynamics of the industry and showcase innovative solutions in areas such as the energy transition and digitalisation. In doing so, they demonstrate the versatility and forward-looking nature of the Dutch sector.

Come and discover the SEPI software tool, one of the results of the CirclesOfLife project for assessing the environmental footprint of shipbuilding processes. During small-group demonstrations at the booth B4.EG/209, 207 of Verband für Schiffbau und Meerestechnik e.V. (VSM) on SMM Hamburg, you will have the opportunity to see the tool in action and learn more about its practical applications.
About trade fair SMM Hamburg
From 1 to 4 September 2026, SMM, the shipbuilding trade fair, will take place in Hamburg, Germany. This international event is held every two years and attracts tens of thousands of visitors from more than 100 countries. In 2024, it welcomed more than 48,000 visitors, with over 2,200 exhibitors presenting their innovations, products and services.
SMM Hamburg offers an excellent opportunity to connect with shipyards, suppliers, technology providers and shipowners from all segments of the maritime industry. No other maritime trade fair brings together such a broad and international range of participants.
