MEYER WERFT is one of the largest and most advanced shipyards in the world. For several decades, we have been building state-of-the-art cruise ships for international shipping companies at our facilities in Papenburg. To date, 61 cruise ships have left our production halls – and more are already under construction.
Innovation has always been central to our work. Our ambition is to deliver the most modern vessels on the market and to be among the first shipyards to introduce new technologies. This includes building the world’s first LNG-powered cruise ship. We also invest continuously in research on manufacturing technologies and efficient production processes.
The MEYER WERFT Group operates internationally and includes our shipyard locations in Papenburg and Rostock as well as several specialised subsidiaries. Together, around 5,300 employees develop and build cruise ships, river cruise ships, and special-purpose vessels tailored precisely to the needs of global markets and target groups.
As a company with a long tradition, our corporate culture is naturally founded upon sustainability, ecology and social responsibility. We feel a strong connection to our region and its environment, and we are committed to maintaining a healthy balance between economic and environmental interests. In close collaboration with our customers and suppliers, we are working on the development of environmentally friendly and energy-efficient technologies. Today, MEYER WERFT is one of the most environmentally friendly shipyards in Europe.
Within the CirclesOfLife project, MEYER WERFT leads a case study investigating the impact of an interior wall system including its environmental impact and conducts practical testing of the SEPI approach. We joined the CirclesOfLife project in 2026 and are proud to contribute our expertise to advancing sustainability in shipbuilding.
